Why should I go to Wild and Savage?
If you’re done with dinner around 10pm in Val Thorens and you need something a bit more high energy than pre-gaming in your hotel or apartment before heading to Malaysia Bar or Klub Summit, Wild and Savage has a fun lounge vibe with inexpensive drinks and great music for dancing. It’s also a great option if you want to go out and dance but don’t want to be out until 4am or just want more sleep so you can get first chair on a powder day.
Also people there are so friendly. I think alot of the Val Thorens staff go there because one of the waiters at my hotel was there, and we heard about it from locals we met at Le Monde. The first time I went in 2020 these two French kids chatted with us on the dance floor knowing we were Americans. When I went in 2023, I was alone, and some older British guys had me join their table to hang out and dance.
What days and time is Wild and Savage happening?
Much like the rest of the apres ski scene in France, the parties aren’t just limited to the weekends, they happen everyday. While Wild and Savage is open at 5pm for food and drinks, the DJ doesn’t usually come until 10pm, and the dance floor isn’t usually busy until past 11pm. It closes at 1:30am.
What is the vibe and type of music?
The vibe is very lounge-y. When you walk in, there are some tables and further back is a full bar. If you turn right from the entrance and walk down a couple stairs, there is a dance floor with a DJ booth with booth seats on the right.
I heard one of the owners is the main DJ from La Folie Douce Val Thorens, DJ Lyrics, so the music would be pretty similar but without the saxophone and MC / Singer. Sometimes there are guest DJs or other performers, I would check their either their Instagram or Facebook pages to see if there’s a schedule posted. Where in Val Thorens is Wild and Savage located?
Wild and Savage is located in the little indoor mall, Galleria Caron, which is connected to the Val Thorens bus stop (Gare Routiere) and the sports center (Centre Sportif). The mall is pretty small, so you can hear the music as soon as you enter. This is actually how we found it! It was our last night in Val Thorens, and we couldn’t figure out where everyone was. We went to Le Monde and some locals mentioned it to us. When we got to the mall, we just followed the music.
Cost to get into Wild and Savage?
It’s usually free, but I follow their Instagram and sometimes notice they’ll have a special DJ and have a cover charge. But this is extremely rare. Just check their IG before.
How much are drinks?
When I went in January 2023, I only drank glasses of prosecco (are you starting to get the idea I only drink wine?). I believe it was only 5-6 Euro a glass. I can’t find any other info online about prices.
Restroom line?
This was a nonissue. I remember being in line for a very short time, but the restroom was clean and there was no charge.
Where to next?
Wild and Savage closes at 1:30am. If you still have energy, you can head over to Malaysia Bar or Klub Summit. But if you’re planning on going there, I would suggest trying to leave Wild and Savage closer to midnight so you don’t get stuck in a long line.
